My Three Girls

Well it's raining here, so no sun. And I didn't want to take my girls out for a shower, so I took some flashless pics in the doll/fabric/guest room instead. I really am impressed with how different each of the three girls looks, even if Harley and Tilly have similar coloring.

Emma and Tilly are perfect as sisters, too. Emma is already very protective, careful, and loving with Tilly. I think I've decided on their ages as well: Tilly is 4 (in preschool), and Emma is 9 (and in the 4th grade). That puts five years between them, so Emma has always thought of Tilly as her baby, since she was old enough to help her mother care for Tilly when she was born. It also means Emma is old enough to be interested in experimenting with clothes, read the Hunger Games and Harry Potter, and be wishful that magic and the supernatural were real, even if she doesn't really believe in them.

Tilly, of course loves and admires her older sis and wants nothing more than to be exactly like her. She always wants to do whatever Emma is doing, and is always asking Emma to play with her. They sit and down their homework together (Emma does her homework, and Tilly colors and "writes") after dinner at the kitchen table, before Tilly takes her nightly bath and Emma takes her shower (thank goodness for a house with two bathrooms).

When the weather clears, and I get some proper adventure clothes for Tilly, they will have to head out into the backyard for some photo fun. There's lots to be discovered out there for two little girls. I also have to dig around in some of my old dollhouse stuff and see if there is anything Tilly can use as a toy. OMG, as I'm rereading this post I realize that I've spelled her name two different ways, lol. I think I'm going to have to spell it Tilly, since that is what I end up typing when I don't think about it.

Harley loves babysitting for these two girls. And feels lucky to have found this job. She got it through her boss at the coffee shop, whose friend's old babysitter had to leave unexpectedly. Harley looks after the girls as if they were her own. She's a little envious of their mother, because she want to have a family like this for herself one day soon. Their mother tells Harley not to worry, it'll happen in time, plus it would be better for her to finish school and get started with her career first. Harley's not so sure, but she appreciates the advice.

ETA: I am half tempted to get Crow out of his box, even though I know he doesn't fit his character....grrr. I think he would really appreciate this little family of bjds. Oh well. I think I'll like my bjd family better in the long run if he does get reshelled as an Iplehouse BID. But I wonder if I should just stick to one doll company, since I am thrilled with their dolls. It's kind of scary to branch out.

ETA: Tilly is now called Ellie

  1. Speaking as someone who has dolls from both Fairyland and Iplehouse (as well as some other companies), I say go for it! Sticking with one company is comfortable, but branching out is exciting.

Different companies have different strengths. Fairyland has the best joints, smooth and unobtrusive. Iplehouse has the most realistic sculpts. You might keep this in mind, because Iplehouse eyes are smaller and more human in proportion. An Iplehouse boy with 12mm eyes might look a little odd next to a Fairyland girl with 16mm eyes. In the end, buy what you like. If they don't work together, there's always the marketplace.

  2. Adorable doll family! I like how Emma's & Tilly's story is coming along. And very nice how they tie in with Harley. :o)
I admire the Iplehouse dolls so much, but I also admire the Fairyland dolls. Good luck with your decisions.
